Studies in Heart Failure

The Clinical Vascular Physiology Laboratory in the Yale Heart Failure Center investigates the role of blood vessel physiology in the pathogenesis of human disease. Physiological measures of conduit and resistance blood vessel structure and function are applied in human subjects to delineate mechanisms of disease, provide a detailed characterization of vascular phenotype, and determine the role of blood vessels in response to treatment and disease progression. Heart failure has been the long-standing major interest in the laboratory, but recent investigations have also included studies on the potential role of iron-mediated oxidative stress on blood vessel function and progression of atherosclerosis and genetic determinants of vascular function. Our Laboratory has a strong commitment to training of young investigators.
