Associate Clinical Professor of Medicine (Cardiovascular)

B.A., Williams College 1976; M.D., Brown University, 1981; Resident in Internal Medicine, Columbia-Presbyterian Medical Center, 1981-84; Clinical Fellow in Cardiovascular Medicine, Yale University, 1984-87; Postdoctoral Fellow, National Simulation Resource Facility, Center for Bioengineering, University of Washington 1987-88; Assistant Professor of Medicine and Director, Transplant Cardiology Program, University of Washington 1988-1990; Assistant Professor of Medicine (1990-1994) and Director, Transplant Cardiology Program, Yale University, 1990-93; Associate Clinical Professor of Medicine and Attending Physician, Yale Transplant Cardiology Program, 1995-present. Senior Director, Pfizer Global Resarch and Development,1999-preseent.

Research Interests

My clinical research efforts have focused on a broad range of areas in cardiovascular medicine, including heart failure, heart transplantation, myocardial metabolism and, more recently, atherosclerosis. I am a member of the cardiovascular and metabolic diseases clinical development team at Pfizer Global Research and Development, where I helped oversee the design and conduct of Phase 2 and 3 studies of torcetrapib,a cholesterol ester transfer protein inhibitor that increases levels of high density lipoprotein cholesterol (HDL-C). I was a principal in the design of the Phase 3 vascular imaging program for the development of that compound. I am presently working in the area of thrombosis.

Clinical Interests

I am board certified in Cardiovascular and Critical Care Medicine. I am an attending physician for the Yale Heart-Failure, Transplant Cardiology Program.
